Top 6 Cleaning Mistakes That Slow You Down

September 24, 2015 8:19 pm Published by

Cleaning your house is crucial but for some it gets very tiring. Here are the  top 6 mistakes which I feel most of us commit while cleaning are listed below.

  1. Top to Bottom Cleaning

This is the basic and most important rule while cleaning your house. All the areas at the top should be dusted first followed by vacuuming at the end. People who do not follow this rule, they end up vacuuming again as the dust from other top areas settle back on the floor. This is purely putting extra effort and time when the same task could be accomplished faster.

  1. Stains on Carpet

There is a spill on your carpet and you simply start scrubbing it off out of anxiety and then later discover that it has spread and got deepened instead of vanishing. When you scrub your carpets you are just ingraining the stains deeper. The best way is to pour some soda water over it and blot it with a dry cloth. You can also use a cloth dipped in vinegar and dab the carpet with it. Wait for 15 minutes and it is done.

  1. Cleaning Windows On a Sunny Day

Its sizzling hot outside and you are out there cleaning dirt out of your window panes. And it takes you more than actual time. Do you know why? It’s because the heat outside dries up the cleaner immediately when you spray on the window pane and when you rub, you still have stains on them. Be wise and do not repeat the mistake of doing so again.

  1. Pre Washing Your Dishes

The dinner is over and you start doing the dishes. You scrape off the left over and then hand-wash them before putting them in the dishwasher. That occupies so much of your time. You can put the dishes directly in the dishwasher after scraping off the left over. Hand-washing or even rinsing the dishes is not required.

  1. Let The Cleaner Work

You spray the cleaner on the surface and scrub it immediately, even before it starts to work on the spots on the tubs and tiles. They need to sit on the satins for some time to soften them and thus it will reduce the amount of effort and time you put into cleaning these areas.

  1. Clean Your Cleaners

The cleaners that you use to clean various surfaces do get dirty in the entire process. You need to clean them too as dirty cleaners do not pick up dirt. Rather they make the surface look dirtier. You should replace them as and when needed.
